About Me

Mario Martinez is a Mexican queer artist with a passion for the arts. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan (Anishinabe, Haudenosauneega, Miami, Odawa, Peoria, Potawatomi Indigenous lands) and making it to Seattle, Washington (Tulalip, Muckleshoot, Duwamish, Stillaguamish, Suquamish Indigenous lands) to get their Bachelor in Fine Arts in Original Works from Cornish College of the Arts. Although Mario’s emphasis was acting, directing and playwriting, they did not shy away from stepping into their own as a fabulous storyteller as Lola Meraz. Mario is a multi-disciplinary artist that enjoys creating with story, movement and sound. Even as Mario takes the spotlight as Lola Meraz, they crave collaboration to make things happen. Lola Meraz frequently collaborates with La Perraka; duo as Marlotela. If Lola is not on stage you can find them working behind the scenes either as an usher, messing with lights, or creating for a next project.
